SCP RETIRE ALUMNI JERSEY, PUT SARNIA TO BED

The Hamilton Steel City Patriots hosted the Sarnia Imperials in NFC regular season action tonight, beating them 44-20.

The Patriots improved their record to 4-1 on the season, while Sarnia fell to 0-5.

The SCP offense was spectacular, piling up over 450 yards, with 150 rushing and 313 in the air. QBs Graham Kelly and Josh Madden combined for 14 of 16 and 7 TDs.

WRs Angus Button and Archelaus Jack each scored two TDs, while Gerrit Dendekker and Johann Jenkins pitched in with one each.

The vaunted SCP defense spent the night in the Sarnia backfield, sacking their QB four times and dropping Imperial runners for losses multiple times. DB Daniel Francis picked off a 4th quarter Imperial pass, returning the interception 10 yards.

 IN MEMORY
At halftime, the Patriots honoured a player tragically lost in 2020 - Derek Baddeley. Derek’s family was on hand as the team retired his #24 jersey in a tear filled ceremony.

PATRIOTS ROLL RAIDERS 49-0

In Northern Football Conference action last night, the Hamilton Steel City Patriots crushed the visiting Toronto Phantom Raiders 49-0.

The Patriots faced the undermanned Raiders on their new home field at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary in Hamilton’s east end, providing the fans with an exciting evening of local semi-pro football.

OFFENSIVE SPECIAL TEAMS

SCP got to work early, after a 75 yard opening kickoff return by Archelaus Jack, RB Stephon Smith punched into the Toronto end zone to go up 7-0.

Jack flashed his speed all night on special teams with punt returns of 35 (TD) and 40 yards. He also added a kick return TD of 95 yards to open the second half.

QBs Graham Kelly and Josh Madden found WR Gerrit Dendekker for touchdowns of 34, 43, and 23 yards, respectively. Both QBs combined for 5 of 9 passing, 152 yards 3TDs and 1 INT. Dendekker went on to lead all receivers with 3 catches for 100 yards and 3TDs.

ANOTHER SHUTOUT

Toronto couldn’t find any room against the vaunted Patriot defence, only gaining 39 yards on the ground all night. Raider runners were tackled for a loss five times, limiting their ability to move the ball.

It didn’t get much better through the air as the Raiders QB, James Maverick, went 6 of 13 for 49 yards 0 TD 0 INT.

Maverick was harassed all night by SCP defenders, being sacked 3 times (“Swish” Spring, Tristan Butler, Lavone Nelson) and hurried twice (Jesse Willick, Dustin Murray).

This is the third shutout this season for the SCP defense, only allowing 22 points in four games. The Patriots currently sit in first place of the NFC’s East Division at 3-1.

PATRIOTS SHUTOUT OAKVILLE 41-0

In Week 3 of Northern Football Conference action, the Hamilton Steel City Patriots (2-O) took to the 403, travelling to Oakville to take on the Longhorns (1-1).  With both squads each having an early bye week and winning their first game on the schedule, on paper it looked to be a good match.

Events unfolded differently on the field with the obviously overmatched Longhorns surrendering an interception returned for a touchdown by rookie DB Jamahl Burke, and letting veteran DL Jordan Powell block a punt, leading to another Burke touchdown.

The Patriot defence was stifling all night, continuing their shutout streak and adding two safeties to the score.

WR Gerrit Dendekker caught a 24 yard touchdown pass from Josh Madden as the SCP offense moved the ball with ease on the Oakville defenders.

This coming SATURDAY JUNE 25 at 7pm, the Hamilton Steel City Patriots (2-0) open their new Home Field by welcoming the GTA Allstars to Sir Winston Churchill Field!

Patriots 24-0 Over GTA AllStars in 2022 NFC Season Opening Game!

The Hamilton Steel City Patriots opened their 2022 Northern Football Conference season with a dominating win over the defending champion GTA Allstars on a cool Saturday night in Brampton.

The Patriot defence was punishing all night, not allowing the Allstar offense to move the ball or score.  Rookie defensive backs, Tj Saini and Austin Dale, each returned interceptions for defensive touchdowns while the SCP defensive line and linebackers held the GTA rushers to only 19 yards on the ground.

Offensively, Hamilton was dealt a blow when starting QB, Graham Kelly, was ruled out of the game following a late, low hit from the GTA defense.  The low hit occurred well after an 18 yard completion to WR Archelaus Jack, who stepped in to the quarterback spot after Kelly went down.

The SCP offense rallied around Jack, with the 3rd year Patriot putting on a show of his athleticism, resilience, and leadership.  Taking snaps for the first time in his career, AJ, as he is known to his teammates, wore down the Allstar defense with his speed and agility, rushing for 82 yards on 7 carries.

SCP running backs Brandon Bettencourt, Stephon Smith and Daniel Seymour combined for another 125 yards on the ground, with Smith scoring on a 23 yard 3rd quarter TD run.

Hamilton has a bye week and return to the field on Saturday June 18 at 6pm against the Oakville Longhorns in Mississauga at Paul Gilbert Field - 1275 Mississauga Valley Blvd, $10 entry, 12 and under free.
